PWM Basic Licensing Unit (BLU) Courses:

To become a licensed Security Officer in Singapore, individuals must successfully complete the following three WSQ Basic Licensing Unit Courses:

  1. Provide Guard and Patrol Services & Operate Basic Security Equipment (PGPS & OBSE)
    Learn essential skills to perform guard duties, patrol assigned areas and use basic security equipment effectively.

  2. Handle Security Incidents and Services (HSIS)
    Acquire the knowledge to respond to security-related incidents and manage various on-site security services.

  3. Recognize Terrorist Threats (RTT)
    Understand how to identify potential terrorist threats and report suspicious activities promptly and accurately.

   *Operate Basic Security Equipment (OBSE)

     This module equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills to operate a range of security equipment and access control systems commonly used in the industry. Learn how to monitor premises effectively, manage entry points, and respond appropriately to equipment alerts.

   Who Should Take This Module:

  • This course is mandatory for individuals who previously completed only the Provide Guard and Patrol Services (PGPS) module.

  • It is required to upgrade from PGPS (standalone) to meet the current PGPS & OBSE combined Basic Licensing Unit (BLU) standard, as per SkillsFuture Singapore guidelines.

PWM Senior Security Officer Courses

To enroll, individuals must:

  • Have at least 6 months of experience as a licensed Security Officer

  • Complete 2 approved WSQ certificate modules

WSQ Security Supervisor Courses (SS)

Available Supervisor-Level WSQ Modules:​

  1. Supervise Security Officers (SSOC)

    Learn to lead and manage a team of Security Officers effectively. This module focuses on delegation, performance monitoring, and ensuring daily operations align with site-specific SOPs.

  2. Induct Security Personnel (ISP)

    Gain the skills to conduct structured and effective onboarding sessions for new security staff. Understand how to communicate duties, expectations, and workplace protocols clearly.

  3. Perform Supervisory Duties Within Legal Framework (PSDLF)

    Learn the legal responsibilities of a Security Supervisor. This course covers relevant laws, incident documentation, and how to ensure compliance with the Private Security Industry Act and other regulatory requirements.

PWM-Recommended Security Courses

These WSQ modules are not mandatory but are highly recommended for Security Officers seeking to enhance their skills, increase job versatility, and qualify for specialized deployments under Singapore’s Progressive Wage Model (PWM) framework.

1. Conduct Security Screening of Person & Bag (CSSPB)

Security Screening Management: 

Gain the skills required to carry out effective screening of individuals and their belongings using walk-through or handheld metal detectors.

This course is compulsory for Security Officers deployed to perform screening tasks in accordance with PLRD regulations.
Increased job opportunities and site deployment options are available upon completion.

2. Perform Security Duties at Protected Areas and Protected Places (PAPP)

Deterrence Module

Learn how to identify and prevent unauthorized activities in protected areas and protected places. This course trains participants to take proactive measures and respond effectively to potential security breaches in high-security zones.

3. Conduct Crowd & Traffic Control (CCTC)

Crowd Control Management

Acquire the skills to assess and manage crowd behavior, direct foot and vehicle traffic, and handle emergency situations during events or peak hours. This is especially useful for deployment at large venues and public gatherings.​
